The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is now available for Mac and Wii U

Just like what happened with Super Mario 64, talented developers reverse-engineered the classic “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”. The availability of the game’s source allows developers to work on mods and also to port the game to multiple platforms. The game reached the PC thanks to fans, now the producer revealed it will bring text-to-speech, 60 frames per second, high-definition texture, Mac and Linux support, and more.

The unofficial port has released a new version “Rachael Alfa” which supports Mac computers and Wii U. In addition to that, this version includes a free camera mode, up to 250 frames per second. There are also item randomization, new cheats, and adjustments for Link’s fall damage. The new port is made by fans and there is no relation with Nintendo. Players will enjoy the game through a software dubbed “Ship of Harkinian”. To avoid legal issues, the software requires players to enter their own legally sourced Nintendo 64 ROM for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. After that, the software will extract the game and generate a native PC version.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was one of the greatest games in Nintendo’s story, and certainly was one that gave breath to the Nintendo 64. The company’s first 64-bit console had a hard time competing with the PlayStation One. However, with the release of Legend of Zelda, Nintendo managed to conquer fans and more customers. The game was important for the whole industry since it brought gameplay elements that are still present in modern games.

While the mod community flourishes, Nintendo is busy with the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro and upcoming games for the portable.
